Issue 27 update, new publishing schedule, and a two-for-one CFE!

      Issue 27 is in the mail and headed towards mailboxes as we speak. All orders placed before Jan. 17th (including subscriptions and submissions) have been mailed out. Please allow 10 – 20 days for shipping.

This delay has forced us to admit what we have known for a year or so, which is that it is very difficult to get the magazine out as fast as we used to. This is a good problem for us to have because it is a result of us having grown so much in the last couple of years. The main issue is that to keep costs down, we use bulk mail postage that simply takes longer than when we shipped everything First Class. The bulk mailing is necessary because of the volume we now have (thank you!). We have tried to keep to the schedule, but we have to admit that we just can’t get the magazine from the printer to you as fast as we used to. So, we are making a slight adjustment to our publishing schedule to more accurately reflect reality. The only thing that will change is the name of each issue. The January issue will become the February issue, April will become May, July will become August, and October will become November. We will still keep our submissions, editing, and distribution schedule, but the month listed on the magazine will more accurately reflect when you receive it. You will get the May issue in late April/ early May, etc. This will also help us be more accurate in the timing for features, etc. We appreciate your understanding and patience. 
      Now that Issue 27 is out, we are ready to start thinking about Issue 28! The call for entries is due Feb. 29th. We are excited to announce that in addition to selecting work for the May issue, we will also be selecting work to invite to an exhibition we are curating at Through This Lens gallery in Durham, North Carolina. The exhibition will take place in July 2020. Every submission for the next call will automatically be eligible, so it’s a two-for-one CFE! We will also be selecting a number of past contributors to invite. We are working on that now. We are very excited to be doing this show at Through This Lens! We are confident that we will get the usual high number of excellent submissions. So, show us what you’ve been working on! You could be in Issue 28 AND the show at, Through This Lens.
