We are very excited to announce the artists selected to contribute to Issue 52. Our first of two featured interviews is with the photographer, Ellen Carey. Ellen is a writer, scholar, teacher, and lens-based artist currently teaching at the Hartford Art School in Hartford, Connecticut. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at the Fox Talbot Museum in Lacock, England, and Galerie Miranda in Paris. Ellen is one of the preeminent experimental photographers in the US, with ties to the early-80s New York scene, along with Cindy Sherman. She has also published several scholarly essays on topics such as Polaroid and instant photography, Anna Atkins, Man Ray, and Sol LeWitt.
Our second featured interview is with the Russian artist, Ekaterina Kiryanova. Ekaterina’s work is rooted in the Russian narrative tradition influenced by the earliest Soviet film schools, Suprematism, Constructivism, surrealism, and folklore. Her work blends these narrative traditions with a variety of hand-printing methods.
Finally, issue 52 includes a spotlight on the Swedish artist, Eva Brandin. In addition to these features and spotlights, issue 52 includes 60 other artists from around the world!
